Bloomingdale's Chooses Kindness this Fall
Just in time for back-to-school, Bloomingdale’s is partnering with anti-bullying organization Kind Campaign on a capsule collection of tees to stand up against female-induced bullying. The line--which donates 10% of its sales to Kind Campaign--specifically focuses on “girl-against-girl crime,” since the way girls verbally ostracize each other in a school setting can be far more severe.
The collection of tees features designs for women, men, and kids, crafted by popular empowerment brands Girl Dangerous and Kid Dangerous. There are eight shirts total in the line that are priced reasonably (under $50), each featuring important messages such as “Find Your Kind,” “Kind Campaign,” and “Cool to be Kind.”
Additionally, Bloomingdale’s locations worldwide will include “pledge walls” that boast the same type of positive phrases, slogans, and doodles, with the final murals ultimately being donated to local schools. The department store is also hosting a “Fashionable Fundraiser” where students can practice inclusion at a bracelet making station or learn more about becoming a Kind Ambassador in their own school community. During this time, customers will be given the opportunity to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar, with the difference in change donated to Kind Campaign.
Bullying is an issue that won’t ever fully be solved--but perhaps Bloomingdale’s approach in wearing our hearts across our tees is a step in the right direction.
