Style Roundup from the 2018 VMA Awards

Although last night's awards show was filled with heartfelt acceptance speeches, wow-wrothy performances, and lots of "roasting" (hi, Tiffany Haddish!), the real star of the show was the parade of fashionable looks that preceded the handout of "moon people." Just in case you missed the pre-show, below you will find my top ten favorite looks (in no particular order) that celebs sported on the hot pink carpet.

1. Millie Bobby Brown

The Stranger Things star took a page out of her popular Netflix series with 80s-inspired ruffled shoulder pads. Her all-black jumpsuit, designed by Rosie Assoulin, was topped off with Christian Louboutin PVC heels and Alison Lou rings that gave it a modern flair.

2. Sofia Carson

It's hard to believe that this actress plays a villain in Descendants when looking at her princess-like Carolina Herrera gown from last night's festivities. The multicolored tulle skirt and white floral top paired perfectly together, nodding to the "bigger is better" fashion trend of the fall.

3. Shay Mitchell

It's no secret that the former Pretty Little Liars star dared to go bold in her plunging, orange mini dress from Nicolas Jebran. "A" certainly wouldn't have anything bad to say about this ensemble...

4. Jennifer Lopez

Believe it or not, the iconic singer's slinky, metallic gown may have outshined her sensational performance from later that night. The eye-catching, custom design by Versace (one of four looks she sported that night!) certainly turned heads--amor, amor, amor, Jlo!

5. Karlie Kloss

Sequin overload! Kloss shined in a sleeveless, high-slit gown by Ellie Saab that showed off her Victoria's Secret model-figure. Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Wempe earrings, a Sanjay Kasliwal bracelet, and a Judith Leiber clutch in the same color family were the perfect touches.

6. Cardi B

With ten nominations at last night's show (of which she received three wins), the “Bodak Yellow” singer knew she had to make a statement on the pink carpet that spoke just as loud as her popular music. Her plunging, magenta Nicolas Jerab gown--accessorized with Loraine Schwartz jewelry--did just that.

7. Kylie Jenner

In a temporary detour from her typical skintight, midriff-baring dresses, the reality star stunned in a classic white blazer dress by Tom Ford. Her ensemble--which included understated Olgana Paris strappy heels--was equal parts shocking and refreshing.

8. Camila Cabello

The “Havana” singer won big last night by receiving the "moon person" for both Artist of the Year and Video of the Year, but her outfit was just as victorious. Cabello's strapless, dip dye silk taffeta gown from Oscar de la Renta looked like a piece of art made by legendary painter, Van Gogh.

9. Jasmine Sanders

Not surprisingly, the model known as "Golden Barbie" wore a long-sleeve mini dress in gold and silver metallic hues. The slinky Dundas ensemble--with Brian Atwood shoes and a L’Afshar clutch--looked both tasteful and chic.

10. Madison Beer

Although the VMA's are known for edgy fashion, Beer opted for a leaf-embellished white suit instead with a plunging neckline from Raisa & Vanessa. The ruffled sleeves, bell bottoms, embellished belt upped the it-factor of the ensemble.
