Seeing Double: The D’Ambrosio Twins Tell All
Bianca and Chiara D’Ambrosio are quite the talented twosome. The twins broke into the business at (ironically) two years old, receiving a role as Summer Newman on CBS’ The Young and the Restless. They have appeared together on numerous other television shows—as well as feature films—including Parks and Recreation, Criminal Minds, Legit, The Jeselnik Offensive, The Closer, and See Dad Run. The twins have also been featured as Abby and Norah on Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn, and they are set to star in the feature film The Code alongside fellow influencers Nia Sioux and Nash Grier. When not acting, the D’Ambrosios are on the board of directors of Boo2Bullying. They released a song “Let Your Light Shine” to bring awareness to the issue, with its accompanying music video streamed in over 30 international film festivals. The duo also serves as brand ambassadors for popular brands Justice, Poshmark, Aldo, Call It Spring, Casio, Casetify, and Sarah Jessica Parker Collection. Below, the D’Ambrosios let readers in on the “twin-tuition” that has brought them immense success thus far.
You found success early on in life with roles in popular TV shows The Young and The Restless and Parks and Recreation. What did those roles teach you about acting, as you were just starting out?
Chiara: We were both really young and those were the first big roles of our career. We both learned so much from each project and got comfortable being on set. For myself, being on The Young and The Restless made me realize I wanted to fully pursue acting.
Bianca: We both had so much fun filming, and I fell in love with acting even more. I gained a lot of experience being on set and learning skills from the rest of the cast. It was a pleasure being a part of it, and I will never forget the opportunity!
How do people tell you apart?
Chiara: Our close friends can usually just tell us apart, but we also have distinctive birthmarks.
Bianca: I have a beauty mark on my right cheek!
Is it difficult sharing the spotlight with a sibling?
Chiara: Not at all! We motivate each other and practice together before auditions. Sometimes auditioning can be scary, but having my sister by my side makes me a lot less nervous.
Bianca: We have tried out for the same roles and luckily have been cast for the same role, but in the case one of us books it and one doesn’t, there isn’t any jealousy. We support each other, and any success for one of us is a success for both!
Is there such a thing as “twin-tuition?” Do you feel like you know each other better than anyone else does?
Chiara: We haven’t fully busted this myth yet, but we definitely do have a little bit of “twin-tuition!”
Bianca: I think we do have “twin-tuition,” however, we spend so much time together that it‘s pretty easy to predict what each other is thinking.
What was it like getting to guest star on Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn? Any particularly fun moments from the set you can share?
Chiara: We were so excited when we found out we got the role. It’s one of our favorite shows, and we loved working on the project together with our friends in the cast.
Bianca: Since we are friends with a few cast members, we all had a lot of fun when we were filming. It was so nice to catch up with our friends and film together.
You also have a popular YouTube channel. What’s your favorite video you’ve ever made and why?
Chiara: I love making travel vlogs. We both love to bring our followers with us on our travels! When we went to Europe, we filmed several “Day In The Life” videos and showed everyone our adventures in different European countries.
Bianca: We did an egg roulette challenge, and it was my favorite video because I got to smash eggs over Chiara’s head. Also, our Dad jumped in the video and started playing with us!
What kind of message are you trying to project through your social media channels?
Chiara: Our biggest message is to spread happiness and kindness on our social media platforms. There is to much hate on social media and it needs to stop. We hope that our photos and videos inspire our followers to be themselves and spread positive energy.
How do you use your celebrity status to make a difference in the world?
Bianca: We have been closely involved with several animal rescue non-profits and also the wonderful Boo2Bullying organization. We use our following to endorse these amazing organizations that are so close to our hearts!
What are your future plans?
Bianca: We have a busy spring coming up. We just wrapped filming The Code with Nia Sioux and Nash Grier, and we have another project coming up soon.
Chiara: As Bianca said, I am so happy to be able to film so many different things this year, but I am still really focusing on my social media channels, including Instagram and YouTube.
What advice do you have for tweens and teens that want to follow in your footsteps?
Chiara: Don’t wait for your big break or meeting the right person to make your career take off. Do your own thing and move forward.
Bianca: Learn, grow, and have a million different experiences. Also, don’t be afraid to fail!
