The Bachelorette’s Ty Brown Steps Back in Time

Ten years ago, Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky welcomed the 25 men vying for her heart for the first time—yet to contestant Ty Brown, the moment feels like just yesterday. The former medical salesman is most well-remembered for serenading Fedotowsky on the beach with an original song, “Livin’ in the Moment,” which was subsequently picked up by several country radio stations. With charm, charisma and strong vocals to match, he made it all the way to the top five, only to be eliminated during week seven. However, now married to fellow Bachelor alum Elizabeth Kitt with a daughter (Blakely, 3) and successful music career, Brown has found a happy ending of his own. Following the recent rerun of his season on The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons - Ever, the musician recalls his reality TV experience.

What made you decide to go on The Bachelor?

A doctor’s office I had worked with convinced me that it was a good idea, so I applied.

What were you most excited about going into the experience? What was your greatest fear?

I didn’t know what to expect, but I was excited to meet a lot of different people from different places. I feared that what people saw on TV wouldn’t be the whole story.

What was your time like with Ali?

I had a great time on our dates. She was a lot of fun and very interesting. She’s also outgoing, driven and loves sports.

What was your favorite date you went on, and why?

I went on multiple dates, and we had a great time on every one. There was no awkwardness, and it was definitely not boring.

Who were some of your closest friends in the mansion? Do you still talk?

Yes, a lot of us still talk. Chris [Lambton], Tyler [Vermette], Craig [McKinnon], Roberto [Martinez] and Frank [Neuschaefer] were my closest friends in the house.

What was it like rewatching your season on The Greatest Seasons - Ever?

It took me back, for sure. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years. However, it’s been good for me to watch it back. I can always pick up the phone with those guys. They’ll be there for me no matter the situation, and vice versa.

How do you think the franchise has changed over the years?

Now, some people are motivated to go on the show for reasons other than to find a partner. Everyone comes off as an Instagram or social media guru.

What is your life like now? Have you found love?

Yes, I found love. I met my wife of six years at a benefit in L.A. after my season of The Bachelorette. We got married in 2014 and have a beautiful little girl.
