KKW x Winnie Collection Celebrates “True Beauty”
Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian West has released the latest collaboration for KKW Beauty in partnership with Victoria’s Secret Angel Winnie Harlow, esteemed for speaking out about her skin condition, vitiligo. The KKW x Winnie line boasts the duo’s makeup essentials: an eyeshadow palette, a highlighter duo, and three lip glosses.
Kardashian West, who transformed the beauty community by popularizing contouring, launched KKW Beauty in June 2017 with the release of her cream contour and highlight kits. The contour kits were a huge success, selling an estimated 300,000 units in two hours. KKW Beauty soared in popularity and has since expanded to include fragrances as well as other makeup staples. Kardashian West has teased on her Instagram that KKW Beauty will be sold in Ulta stores this upcoming fall as well, following in her sister Kylie Jenner’s footsteps (Jenner began selling Kylie Cosmetics at Ulta stores nationwide in fall 2018).
Each item available in the KKW x Winnie collection is inspired by the warm, shimmery shades often worn by Harlow on red carpets and runways. The star of the line is an eyeshadow palette ($49) which, as Kardashian West has described, “features the most gorgeous jewel tone shades.” Both the matte and sparkly shades are ideal for everyday wear, and they can easily be transformed for a night out as well. The collection also spotlights a set of high-shine lip glosses ($42 per bundle of 3): “Tiger Eye,” a deep nude with champagne pearl; “Secret,” a pale pink with silver pearl; and “Aura,” a soft beige with pink pearl. The highlighter duo ($26), complete with a smooth formula, is equally wow-worthy: it comes with two shades, a warm, bronze hue called “Soleil” and a cooler tone titled “Luna.”
Upon announcing her collaboration with Harlow, Kardashian West shared a promotional image for the partnership, referring to the model as “the definition of true beauty.” By demonstrating that beauty is not limited to a single skin color or condition, Kardashian West and Harlow successfully champion for diversity that is much needed within the makeup industry.
