When did you decide you wanted to become a singer?

I’ve always been very musical--since I was two years old! I started taking multiple classes in the arts, and singing happened to become of my favorite! I remember I was about nine years old and singing “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, and after I was done, my mom was in shock. She said to me, “I think you can sing!” From there, I started taking voice lessons and posting various covers on social media, and I just developed this strong passion for music!

Which singers inspire you the most and why?

Vocally, Camila Cabello and Alicia Keys inspire me the most. They’re both such strong vocalists and amazing performers. However, I think a true artist is someone who puts themself into their work without caring what anyone thinks! I’ve looked up to Miley Cyrus ever since I was a little girl because she’s really showed me, as well as a bunch of other girls, that it’s okay to have bad days and take the time to find yourself. That, to me, is most important.

How would you describe the style of your music?

I try to incorporate melodies that would be interesting for every age to listen to! I don’t really have a specific sound in each song. Every single has a different vibe and feeling put into it. I love doing this because people can relate easier and feel what I’m feeling through each song.

What differentiates you from other artists?

I try my best to connect with my supporters and listen to how they feel. I write a lot about my life experiences and what I did to overcome them. I think about what my supporters want to hear rather than make every song about me. It’s important to focus on what they need because they’re the ones who always have my back. It’s good to have someone go through life with you, so that’s what I try to accomplish through my music.

What is your favorite song you’ve written and released to date and why?

My favorite song I’ve ever released is “Ride This Wave.” It has a concept that a lot of girls can relate to, and the drop is so empowering. The vibe of the song helps people connect to the concept more and feel the music.

What was the inspiration behind your latest song, “Alive?” What is the main message you want listeners to take away from it?

The inspiration behind “Alive” is actually kind of dark! I was going through a rough time in life, and then I met someone. Throughout the song, you’re able to hear that this person pulled me out of that state and made me go through so many emotions. I’m so thankful for that person, and a lot of young girls are able to relate to my situation. You don’t realize how much of an impact a person can have on you until it happens.

What was it like performing on the Boys of Summer Tour?

Performing on the Boys of Summer Tour was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Not only did I get to travel and explore a bunch of new cities, make so many new friendships, and work on bettering my craft every time I performed, but I also got to connect with my supporters, which is most important to me!

How did it feel to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week for Chick? Were you nervous at all?

I never thought that at 17 years old, I would be walking the runway at New York Fashion Week. Chick is like a family, and I’m so glad I got to experience my first show walking for them! They made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. Runway is a lot different than editorial photo shoots. I was a little nervous at first, even though I’ve been on stage many many times, but once I was on the runway, I got this huge rush of adrenaline and felt so amazing! I’m thankful that I’ve now walked for Chick two times in NYFW. Hopefully, there will be more to come!

What do you consider to be the breakthrough moment of your career?

I feel like my breakthrough moment actually just occurred! Many exciting things have been happening this year, as I’m working with very successful artists on my music. 2020 is going to be one for the books, for sure!

What is your endgame? What do you ultimately hope to accomplish in the future?

I would love to keep growing my family of supporters and continue to inspire each other. In the end, I hope to encourage people to take advantage of their talent and be confident with it! I want others to be able to feel my music and become inspired.
