When Model Meets Fashion Mastermind
Designer Karl Lagerfeld partnered with on-the-rise model Kaia Gerber on a collection of Parisian-inspired pieces with a West Coast edge to them. The Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia Collection--which launched on August 30th--features ready-to-wear accessories, sunglasses, footwear, jewelry, and clothing staples that are practically begging to be added to closet collections.
Lagerfeld first met Gerber when he signed her on to model at Fashion Week for Chanel in September 2017. That season, she was given the opportunity to walk the runway for 18 brands including Saint Laurent, Versace, and Calvin Klein. Although fame runs in the family (her mother is one of the original supermodels, Cindy Crawford), Gerber has evolved on her own, growing her Instagram following to 3.7 million followers (more than her mother).

After a one-year partnership, Lagerfeld decided to take his collaboration with Gerber to next level by giving her the role of co-designer on an exclusive capsule collection. “I have loved being a part of the creative process and working with Karl is a dream,” Gerber stated in a press release for Karl Lagerfeld. “It has given me a new appreciation for how hard designers work, and how much creativity and thought goes into every collection."
The line features an extensive array of items, from faux leather leggings to a metallic skirt to a millennial pink belted faux fur coat. Other standout pieces in the collection include faux leather gloves, a graffiti mini shoulder bag, “Kaia Kreeper” platform sneakers, and a tuxedo blazer with a logo pin accent.
The launch of the line was kicked off this past week at the Revolve Social Club in Los Angeles, where a pop-up shop is opening for the collection starting on September 1st.
Additionally, the public is invited to attend a consumer event at the Karl Lagerfeld flagship in New York on September 12th. Fans will have the chance to win a meet-and-greet with Gerber at the event by following the rules posted on Lagerfeld’s social media.
Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia is now available on Karl.com and Revolve.com for two weeks. Starting September 14th, you can shop the line at retailers worldwide as well, including Selfridges, Excelsior, Breuninger, La Rinascente.
It seemed like Gigi Hadid was the ultimate multi-faceted model following her collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger on the Tommy x Gigi Collection. Now it’s Kaia’s turn to step into the spotlight. With an impressive debut line, her supermodel status seems to be going nowhere but up from here.
