Parker Winston: Teen Model on the Rise
New York City native Parker Winston already has an impressive start on her modeling career. At age 14, the teen supermodel’s modeling credits include Vogue Bambini, Converse, DKNY, Saks Fifth Avenue, Juicy Couture, Target, and Gap Kids (to name a few!). She has amassed a following of 13.9K followers on Instagram as well (@parkerwinston), frequently posting her new modeling shots and adventures as a city girl. After meeting Winston at a benefit for No Bully at Henri Bendel, I knew she was the perfect person to interview for my blog. Her killer style and modeling wisdom at such a young age are both extremely impressive. Check out our discussion below to see the chic insights she has to offer.
How did your modeling career begin?
Before I was born, my mother was a model. I always loved art and taking pictures, so when I was five, my mom brought me into Wilhelmina Modeling Agency for an interview! The rest is history.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style ranges depending on what kind of mood I am in or what I am doing that day. It’s either classy and elegant, or edgy and bold!
How has your style evolved over the years?
As a child, I loved playing dress up and wearing costumes. Sometimes I would even wear those costumes to school! I used to think that the more over the top the outfit was, the better. Now I know that less is more! Also, one of the biggest things I have learned over the years is how much an accessory can change an outfit.
Does New York City influence your style at all?
New York City has definitely influenced my style--it makes me dress bolder! NYC is the fashion empire of the world; there is such a large variety of styles, so it’s important for me to make mine my own.
Who are your style icons?
My style icons are Romee Strijd for her elegance, Cara Delevingne for her edginess, and Audrey Hepburn for her iconic and classic style.
Do you have a favorite fashion/beauty magazine?
As a tween, I modeled for Vogue Bambini and ever since then, I always read Vogue and Teen Vogue! I also love Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
My favorite places to shop are definitely Zara, Urban Outfitters, Aqua, and LF!
In your opinion, what’s the hardest and best part of being a model?
The hardest part of being a model is going on auditions! Auditions for jobs are super scary and you never know what to expect. Over the years I learned to channel my excitement and nervous energy into something powerful for my auditions. Confidence is key! The best part of being a model is exploring the different locations and places I get to travel to. I love to take in all the culture and beauty from wherever I visit.
What are your future plans?
Currently, I am working on some cool clothing pieces! So many more things are to come that I’m excited for you guys to see.
This or That:
Kendall Jenner or Gigi Hadid?
Definitely Gigi! I love her style!
High heels or sneakers?
Sneakers! A cute sneaker can make an outfit.
Straight hair or beach waves?
Beach waves. Straight hair can be boring sometimes, so I like to style my hair in beach waves to add volume.
Topshop or Forever 21?
Forever 21. Many things in my closet are from Forever 21 because they're priced well and are such great quality.
Runway or print modeling?
Print Modeling! Photo shoots are so much fun!
