Teen actress Sissy Sheridan recently tapped into her vocal prowess with the release of her cover video, “Most Girls.” Inspired by the original song by Hailee Steinfeld, Sheridan—known for her role as Angie on BRAT’s web series Chicken Girls—decided to put her own spin on the tune, projecting an empowering message for young girls with the help of fellow influencers Caitlin Carmichael, Jillian Shea Spaeder, Natallie Sigler, Mia Dinoto, and Kelsey Leon. Read Sissy’s interview below to hear how she made the video come to life.

Why did you choose to cover “Most Girls?”
When researching songs to cover, “Most Girls” really caught my eye. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to do a song with a strong message, and when I heard “Most Girls,” I knew it was the one for me.


How did you come up with the video concept?

It actually took a couple of weeks to solidify a concept. While it was super fun to dream up this "movie," it was tougher than it looked to put it all together, which was a great lesson for me. I've watched hundreds of music videos without realizing the level of thought and preparation that goes into making them. My mom and I talked about ideas with the directors, Reel Mike Jones and Michelle Bennet, and we came up with something we're all really proud of. During filming, I wanted all types of girls to feel represented and decided to use fashion as a way to express that. Overall, there are 6 looks in the video that I believe girls can relate to. Each look is met with a positive response from my friends, confirming that however you choose to express yourself, there is always something positive that can be said about your style, no matter how different you look from someone else.

How does your video differ from Hailee Steinfeld’s original?

I was initially inspired by Hailee Steinfeld's original “Most Girls” video. I wanted my video to add more depth and meaning to the outfit changes. In the video, every time I change into a new outfit/persona, my gal pals write a positive word or message about it, whether it be “future president” or “queen!” My mom came up with the amazing idea to have the word “UNSTOPPABLE” at the end of the video. I love how the last thing you see is the girls and I hand in hand.


Describe what the day on set was like for you.

I was so, so, so, excited to start filming with Mike and five of my friends from LA. Caitlin, Jillian, Natallie, Mia, and Kelsey were so much fun to work with. We shot the video in a really architectural, cool loft in downtown LA. It took about eight hours of straight filming to complete. I couldn't get the song out of my head for days, as we ran it the whole time filming. I had so much love and support from my friends and family and felt totally at home in front of the camera! It felt like a dream.


How did your friends help you convey the story you were trying to get across?

One of the coolest things about the day we shot the video was that when my girlfriends showed up, they were all wearing different looks, which wasn't planned. It was just an organic thing that happened. Of course, that's one of the biggest messages of the video: individual style = power. We had athletic, girlie, tom-boyish, edgy, and trendy looks. The girls were great, and I enjoyed spending the day bringing this video to life with them.

What’s up next for your music career?

I am currently working on an original song with the team I did my cover song with, Griffith Frank and Esteban Calderon. The song will be out this summer, and I'm excited to release it along with another video. It’s an expression of some of the different artists I respect and will really represent how I'm feeling musically right now.
