Pure Culture Beauty Conquers Dull Quarantine Skin
Stuck behind a face mask with skin problems you can never seem to solve? Pure Culture Beauty, an up-and-coming skincare company, contains the solution, with three core, customizable products suited to your skin type.
Pure Culture was founded by two seasoned beauty titans: Victor Casale (former Chief Chemist of MAC Cosmetics and founder of CoverFX) and Joy Chen (former CEO of Yes To and H2O+ Beauty). The duo recently debuted their first formulas: a cleanser, serum and moisturizer with prebiotics and postbiotics to keep the skin microbiome healthy. The line is based upon individualized skin care: “The one-size-fits-all product doesn’t work for every consumer, and we created our products with this in mind,” explained Casale and Chen. “Our clean products were designed to meet a diverse set of skin conditions and with the understanding that every consumer has their own set of unique skin goals.”
The brand partnered with top-notch providers DNA Gentotek and Diversigen to supply at-home testing and microbiome analysis services for each customized skincare regimen. Customers are directed to fill out a lifestyle-based survey, use pH strips to assess the skin’s oiliness or dryness, and potentially purchase additional biome analysis for a more personalized formula. From there, Pure Culture analyzes all pieces of data, personalizes your solutions and delivers them straight to your doorstep.
The Custom Skincare Set—which includes the cleanser, serum, and moisturizer—retails for $150 ($90 in November to celebrate Skin Health Month), and the laboratory-based biome testing is sold for an additional $25. Not only are the products effective, but they are gender-neutral, cruelty-free, sustainable and ethically-sourced as well, and the packaging is biodegradable. Pure Culture is also offering gift cards for the holiday season, allowing recipients to reap the benefits of the line in the face of dry, colder weather conditions.
The timing could not have been better for the launch of Casale and Chen’s at-home, science-based collection. COVID has made it difficult to see aestheticians and dermatologists in person, yet Pure Culture makes it possible to target skincare concerns from the comfort of your home.“With many consumers stuck inside for the foreseeable future, we see our products providing long-lasting solutions to consumers who don’t just want a quick fix, but are looking for solutions that get to the root of their skin problems,” the founders asserted.
If you’ve been burdened by quarantine breakouts (aka “maskne”), Pure Culture provides an opportunity to change the narrative. “Every person has a different story based on their lifestyle, DNA makeup, diet and where they live geographically. We’re offering a completely customized product regimen with clean, active ingredients that are meant to work synergistically—that is, as a system of products working together to enhance your skin,” says Casale and Chen. Your path to better skin begins with a hybrid of science and customization—the rest is still unwritten.
