Amy Schumer's Inclusive New Clothing Line
Stand-up comedian Amy Schumer and stylist Leesa Evans are scheduled to release their new clothing line, Le Cloud, catered to a wide range of sizes. The 23-piece collection--which will officially launch at Saks OFF 5th in NYC and Los Angeles on December 3rd--ranges from 0 (XS) to 20 (XX), with comfortable fabrics that are “as light as a cloud” (hence the name of the brand).
The Trainwreck actress, who has been open about her struggles with body image in the past, established the brand as a result of her own journey. “Going to put jeans on or things that I see girls in magazines or on TV wearing wasn’t agreeing with my body type,” Schumer has said. “You feel bad and wrong. It creates so much anxiety.” The goal was to create a ready-to-wear collection where women dress for themselves, not society. With a variety of tops, pants, skirts, jumpsuits that transition from day to night, Le Cloud is dedicated to boosting females’ self-esteem and empowering them to embrace their individuality at all times.
The comedian’s clothing line also contains a charitable nature: 30% of net proceeds will be donated to Community Partners, a non-profit in support of the StyleFund project. The organization was founded by Schumer and Evans last year in an effort to inspire women through style, its mission perfectly aligning with their new fashion venture.
Le Cloud--offered in a neutral palette that includes camel, navy, hunter charcoal, and black-- ranges from $38 to $248. “We are making beautiful, comfortable and wearable clothing that is accessible to real women," the comedian has noted. Nothing to laugh about there.
